Local : Teacher Charged With Molestation
An East Los Angeles elementary school teacher has been charged with molesting five boys in his remedial reading courses, prosecutors said today.
Allen Gross, 43, of Pomona was charged late Wednesday with one felony count of a lewd act upon a child and four misdemeanor counts of child molestation.
Gross, who taught at Malabar Elementary School, was arrested May 2 and was released on $5,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Municipal Court for arraignment Tuesday.
It was the second time Gross has been accused of molesting students. In 1985, he was suspended from a teaching position at Hamel Street School in East Los Angeles when he was charged with sex-related offenses. Gross was acquitted and reinstated to his job, said district spokeswoman Diana Munatones.
