West Hollywood : Business License Tax Plan
The City Council took the first step toward establishing a business license tax when it voted unanimously Monday night to hire a consultant to help draft the ordinance.
Ralph Anderson & Associates will develop a business classification plan and rate structure, and will help promote the tax in the business community. The services will cost about $30,000, according to city documents.
City officials have been studying ways to boost revenues after an $8-million bond issue to finance the construction of a library and fire station failed last month. Officials are also anticipating a $1.5-million decline in state revenues in 1991.
