The lastest distribution of sales and use tax income left Orange County nearly $17.5 million richer. The city of Anaheim received the largest amount, $2.25 million, while Villa Park’s $11,200 was the smallest. The largest per-capita amount, though, went to Costa Mesa, which received $16.25 per resident. Villa Park also received the smallest per-capita amount, $1.61.

Compared to neighboring counties, Orange County’s $17.5 million ranked second. But its per-capita figure, $7.66, was by far the highest.

Each month city and county governments and other governmental organizations receive from the state three advance payments in anticipation of actual sales tax revenues. In the fourth month they receive an adjusted amount--the difference between actual revenue and amounts previously received plus the first advance for the next quarter. The amounts listed in the chart below consist of the second advance payment for the first quarter.
