Ten British athletes from six sports were disciplined after failing drug tests in domestic events last year. In the most severe cases, the Sports Council announced, pole vaulter Jeff Gutteridge and weightlifter Paul Rowe had been banned for life after testing positive for steroid use, and weightlifter John Buck had been suspended for refusing to take a drug test.
