Lock Them Up

Many thanks for printing that comedy bit of commentary by Ellen Geis, who says we don’t need more jails, we need only rethink who should be so confined.

May I suggest that she and the other attorneys involved in the suit over Proposition A show us by shining example that those solid citizens whom we must now release because there is no room to put them, shouldn’t be there anyway. Let each of them take one home with him. They can then learn the joy of much closer contact with them than they now have.

Or, as an alternative if they refuse to go that far, have them release their home addresses to the frustrated police officers who can’t follow through with an arrest because of lack of jail space, and the officers can just drop them off in front of their homes. I look forward to the results of either suggestion.
