Officials at UC Davis are considering whether to continue Black Family Week observances in the wake of violence at the annual event. At least 10 people were injured in a stampede and fights touched off by gunshots fired in the campus Quad, where about 10,000 had gathered to listen to music, campus police said. One officer was injured trying to break up a fight. “The campus is committed to major events involving the black community,” said Chancellor Ted Hullar. “The specific form of those events will result, at least in part, from the deliberations we’re starting.” A spokesman for the event said the disruptions were the most serious in the history of the program.
