Pasadena : Gun Sale Restriction OKd

Share

The Pasadena Board of Directors on Wednesday adopted an ordinance restricting the sale of assault weapons and handguns on city property in order to curb sales at a gun show scheduled this weekend at the Pasadena Center.

Director William Paparian said the board was concerned that the gun show might be used by dealers for wholesale disposal of assault weapons in advance of state restrictions that will take effect June 1.

Paparian said the city could not cancel the show without risking legal liability, so directors banned the sale of assault rifles and handguns by anyone who does not have a federal license to sell firearms. That restriction will prevent unrecorded sales, Paparian said, and require a 15-day waiting period for delivery of handguns.
