A man who allegedly threatened to kill a 16-year-old girl who confronted him in her house was being held on suspicion of burglary, authorities said Thursday.

Leo Mark Dise, 34, of San Diego was arrested by officers who stopped his car on the Santa Ana Freeway at Jamboree Road about 4 p.m. Wednesday, according to Lt. Robert Rivas of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said a man had entered a house in the 24000 block of Corta Cresta Drive. Rivas said the unidentified teen-ager had returned from school to her home and found the front door hard to open, as if something was blocking it.

“She went to a side door, opens it and is confronted by the man. She is near the kitchen and she picks up a knife and the burglar tells her, ‘I’m going to kill you,’ ” Rivas said.

The girl fled to a neighbor’s house and called authorities. In the meantime, Rivas said, the man fled and was seen by witnesses getting into a car.

Rivas said a description broadcast of the car and the man resulted in Dise’s arrest. The car he was driving had been reported stolen in San Diego.
