USC Assistant Named CLU Basketball Coach
Cal Lutheran has named Michael Dunlap, an assistant basketball coach at USC the past three seasons, to coach its men’s basketball team.
Dunlap, 30, will succeed Larry Lopez, who had a 37-49 record in three seasons with the Kingsmen. Dunlap was an assistant at Loyola Marymount and Iowa before joining USC in 1986.
Lopez led the Kingsmen to the semifinals of the NAIA District 3 playoffs two seasons ago, but Cal Lutheran slipped to an 11-17 record last season.
