Development of two luxury resorts on the Palos Verdes Peninsula coast and four golf courses will be the topic of forum at the Rancho Palos Verdes City Council meeting at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hesse Park, 29301 Hawthorne Blvd.

“We will try to look at the coastline as a whole and get a comprehensive picture of what is happening on the coast,” said Robert Benard, city environmental services director. The staff will present information on the projects and hear public comment and questions.

On the agenda are specific proposals filed with the city for a 575-room hotel, conference center and golf course on the former Marineland site, and a 450-room Ritz-Carlton resort hotel, golf course and residential development near the Rancho Palos Verdes-San Pedro boundary.

Also on the agenda is a discussion of plans by a Chicago and Los Angeles group to build a residential and golf development on land it owns north of the park.

Before the forum, the council, Planning Commission, and traffic, transit, recreation and parks and trails committees will discuss coastal developments. That session begins at 6 p.m.

The 8 p.m. meeting will be aired live on public access cable Channel 3.
