Compiled by Nancy Graham, Times staff

Marymount College will hold its commencement exercises at 2 p.m. today. Degrees will be conferred on 208 weekday and 32 weekend college students in Marsee Auditorium at El Camino College.

Dr. Carlos E. Cortes, professor of history at UC Riverside, will deliver the keynote address. Laurie Clements of Rolling Hills Estates will give the valedictory address.

Other graduations:

El Camino College will hold its commencement exercises at 4 p.m. June 16 in Murdock Stadium on campus, marking the 42nd annual commencement for the community college. Nearly 1,200 students will graduate. Explorer-adventurer John Goddard will deliver the keynote address. Goddard’s philosophy is “to dare is to do . . . to fear is to fail.” He has said that he does not believe in pursuing adventure for the sake of frivolous thrill, but uses the experiences to achieve a worthwhile end. “Digging out the facts is the real challenge, the adventure is exciting and enjoyable, but secondary,” he says. Of the 1,200 El Camino graduates, 575 will receive associate degrees in science. This is the first El Camino class to receive that degree. The remainder will receive the traditional associate degree in arts. Six graduates receiving the arts degrees have completed the honors program. The El Camino ceremonies are open to the public.
