Protesting Mexican students in Nogales, demanding that two fired professors be rehired, held 12 college administrators--including the dean--hostage, police said. About 100 students at the Technological Institute have surrounded the administrative building since Thursday. The students want the reinstatement of two professors let go for allegedly participating in a student protest that shut the college for five weeks. “This is a kidnaping because I’m locked inside here like a prisoner and cannot leave,” Francisco Javier Brito, a finance professor, told Reuters news agency by telephone.
