ARSENIO HALL

Share

We love “The Arsenio Hall Show.” My husband and I are “buppies” (black urban professionals). We enjoy having an opportunity to watch a show with such wide appeal. We enjoy watching someone with whom we feel we have much in common. He’s articulate, he’s intelligent, he thinks on his feet, and he’s in charge. We are proud of Arsenio Hall.

Journalists are eager to point out that Afro-Americans do not have enough disposable income to attract national advertisers to shows like Arsenio’s. It’s ridiculous to think that blacks don’t purchase VCRs or go out a few nights a week. When black people stay home, journalists report that we have very little disposable income. When white people stay home, they are considered the new, highly sought after, profitable marketing opportunity called “couch potatoes.”

We challenge Arsenio to continue to meet the pressures. Hang in there, brother. We look forward to your emergence as the baddest talk-show host on network television.
