Share

More than 800 acres of former California farmland on which the federal government has foreclosed loans were transferred to the state for use as wildlife habitats. It was the first transfer of surplus federal land in California under the Agricultural Credit Act of 1987, according to state and federal officials in Sacramento. Included are a 54-acre parcel southeast of Red Bluff in Tehama County, a 115-acre parcel six miles southwest of Manteca in San Joaquin County and 640 acres a mile west of Earlimart in Tulare County.
