WORLD : Papandreou’s Girlfriend Says He’s Free to Remarry, Tells Wedding Plan
Greek Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou’s girlfriend said today he is free to remarry and they plan to hold a church wedding.
Flight attendant Dimitra Liani, 34, said Papandreou’s marriage to his American wife, Margaret, is over after 38 years.
Speaking in a radio interview from the living room of a luxury villa where she moved in with the 70-year-old prime minister last November, she said they planned to marry to seal a “perfect” relationship.
“Margaret Papandreou is a woman who stood by the prime minister’s side, a family was created and she always helped him. But this has ended. The cycle has closed, and we must accept this, as hard as it is,” she said.
