Up a Tree Over Plans to Fell It, Woman Is Arrested
Kaymarion Raymond had become so attached to an 80-year-old maple tree that when she heard it was going to be cut down for street repairs, she took her attachment literally.
The 43-year-old woman was arrested Friday when she climbed the tree and chained herself to a limb about 20 feet off the ground to protest a decision to chop it down.
Raymond, of Westhampton, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, trespassing and violating a Northampton city ordinance that bars tree climbing, said Police Capt. Michael Wall.
