A distributor agreed to discontinue sales of a pistol-shaped juice package from which children drink by putting the barrel in their mouths.

“We’re doing it because of the many complaints we’ve received,” said Michael Sy, general manager of Mackie International in Santa Fe Springs.

Sy said the 35-cent juice gun, made in the Philippines and sold under the name “Chilly Bang! Bang!” had been on the market less than two months and generated numerous complaints from New York and Pennsylvania.

The product prompted New York state Sen. Nicholas Spano of Yonkers to propose legislation outlawing any food product packaged in the shape of a firearm.

“This is a disgusting product,” Spano said of the juice gun. “The last thing we should teach children is to put gun barrels in their mouths.”
