I wish to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the editorial regarding Los Angeles’ historical and cultural monuments (“Historic Move,” May 24). We in the Silver Lake area are working hard to save the Canfield Moreno estate, atop the Micheltorena Street hill.

Your editorial and the proposal by L.A. City Council members Gloria Molina and Joel Wachs to appoint an administrator to protect our city’s landmarks (May 23) give us encouragement and determination to carry on our fight to preserve this unique beautiful 5-acre park-like estate.

And a belated thank you for the terrific article on Silver Lake in the Real Estate Section on March 12.
