Daily Pay Rates Hiked

MANILA, Philippines —
President Corazon Aquino signed into law Friday a bill raising the daily basic wage in the Philippines. The law raises the $3.05 daily wage by $1.20 for industrial workers in metropolitan Manila. It grants a 95-cent increase to private-sector workers in selected cities and provinces and gives an extra 71 cents to workers elsewhere in the country.
