Household Formation Ahead of Population
Household formation is taking place at a more rapid pace than population growth. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, households increased by 13.9% between 1980 and 1988 while population grew by 8.5%.
At the same time, the average number of persons per household dropped to 2.62 from 2.75.
