“The moments of boredom tick away whenever you tell Americans” anything! Especially when you tell them how bad they are, how good Western Europe is.
Stanley Meisler, America-bashing is out! We’ve stopped apologizing for our warts.
The last thing America is, is European, or Latino, or Asian. It’s all of these people and more, while uniquely America. Precisely the reason our forefathers came here, and future generations will continue to come--in spite of crime, drugs, poor politics and such “dazzling displays of abundance.”
I think Mr. Meisler would be happier back in the “vibrant, lovely towns of Europe.” His glass is obviously half empty, ours are half full, warts and all!
