L.A. Board to Conduct Hearing on Porter Ranch Development

Share

The Los Angeles Board of Referred Powers will consider a proposal to develop a $2-million residential and commercial development in Porter Ranch on June 21 in the City Council chambers.

The board will conduct a public hearing on the development immediately after the City Council meeting, which begins at 10 a.m. and typically last until noon or 1 p.m.

Last week the Los Angeles city attorney’s office disqualified the Planning Commission from voting on the proposal because Commissioner Theodore Stein Jr., who owns property near the project, has a conflict of interest.

The five council-member Board of Referred Powers is headed by Councilman Hal Bernson, whose North Valley district includes the hilly Porter Ranch area. The panel convenes to decide issues that city commissioners or board members have conflicts with.

Other council members on the panel include Joan Milke Flores, who serves as vice chairwoman; Marvin Braude, Richard Alatorre and Zev Yaroslavsky.
