Syria Paper Urges Dumping Shamir’s Plan as ‘Garbage’

DAMASCUS, Syria — The official daily newspaper in Syria said Wednesday that Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir’s peace plan for the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip should be dumped into “the garbage can of history.”
The official daily Syria Times said that Shamir’s plan, which calls for elections in territories under Israeli occupation, was aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause.
