Not just concerts but chances to really learn about music--that’s what’s in the offing this weekend with three performances of wide-ranging music, from synthesizers to jazz to Andean flutes.

Today at the Westside Children’s Museum, it’s “Humanoids on Parade,” beginning at 1 p.m. with a concert by Adam Rado, who will demonstrate computer-generated music to youngsters (ages 5-12). Immediately following, Oscar-winning composer Ron Grant will conduct a workshop in which participants will learn how to make music by digitally recording sounds and playing them back on a tape recorder.

The museum is at 1302 11th St., Santa Monica. The performance is $5 for adults, $2 for children. The workshop is $5 per child and participants each should bring a blank cassette to record their compositions. Information: (213) 451-5524.
