Home Shopping Network Trial to Begin: A civil trial is to begin today on Home Shopping Network’s $1.5-billion lawsuit alleging that faulty GTE Corp. equipment kept thousands of customers on hold waiting for idle sales operators. The trial in Pinellas Circuit Court in Florida also includes Stamford, Conn.-based GTE’s countering slander suit against the video retailer. The case is expected to last six weeks.
