Fokker Says Pan Am Order Close: Dutch aircraft maker Fokker NV said it was close to winning a $673-million order from Pan Am Corp. for 30 Fokker 100 planes, a deal that would speed the company’s financial recovery. A spokesman said he expected Pan Am to make a decision within 30 days. Pan Am would use the 106-passenger twin-jet planes, powered by Rolls-Royce Tay engines, for flights in West Germany and on European feeder lines to London. The firm has 217 firm orders and 175 options for the Fokker 100 if the Pan Am contract is included.
