MEXICO CITY — Federal police recovered 175 pre-Columbian archeological pieces, fossils and reproductions in La Paz in the state of Baja California Sur, newspapers reported Wednesday. The items were recovered in an anti-drug operation and 10 suspects were arrested.
Jorge Amado Manriquez of the National Institute of Anthropology and History said the pieces are from the Mayan, Mexica and Zapotec cultures, which predated the Spanish conquest.
