A Peruvian plane carrying 60 people slammed into a mountain in the Andes, and all aboard were killed, the air force said. The aircraft, an air force plane, crashed near the town of Tarma 100 miles east of the capital city of Lima. A spokesman said that no foreigners were among the passengers. The air force did not say how many of the dead were civilians and how many were military personnel, and no indication was given about what might have caused the crash. The plane was a Canadian-made Buffalo two-engine cargo aircraft.
