Board Vote on the AIDS Ordinance

Share

Your AIDS editorial (June 18) typifies the reason for such furor at the Orange County Board of Supervisors meeting.

It is not the board that is ignoring the facts, it is the liberal press, the homosexual community, and all those who promote the rights of the few over the rights of the many who are being irrational.

Why do you insist on protecting rather than restricting possible contact with those who carry a disease which is proven to be a killer 100% of the time?

The majority opinion is this--nobody wants AIDS around Orange County. Now, unless you have a solution for an incurable, communicable, and 100% fatal disease, help come up with a plan for protecting those of us who are innocent of the “gay life style” and quit making us pay for the stupidity of those whose actions the Bible, the majority, and common sense condemn as being unnatural and immoral (with sincere apologies to those who got it from them secondhand). Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Your rights are restricted for the safety of the whole of society every day by traffic signs and health laws impinging upon the rights of food service and other businesses. Why should it seem strange that citizens don’t want to associate with those who carry a plague of death? Why do you condemn our leaders for taking a bold stand for decency in our community?
