A new government study concludes that as many as one-third more people will develop AIDS in the next three years than has generally been predicted.

The report, prepared over the last two years by the General Accounting Office and scheduled for release Monday, predicts that 300,000 to 485,000 Americans will have been diagnosed with acquired immune deficiency syndrome by the end of 1991, a range far higher than the federal government’s estimate of 195,000 to 320,000 cases.
