Many Hotel Discounts

Inter-Continental Hotels is another chain offering a summer promotion, with discounts 20% to 50% off regular rates at 66 properties in the United States, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

Rates are per room per night. One child under 14 years can stay free at the same price, but more than two people are extra. Except for Latin America, discounts are available for rooms throughout the week.

In North America the program runs until Sept. 10. There is a minimum-stay requirement of two nights, and some dates are not available. Service charges and taxes are extra.

Among the cities with participating properties are New Orleans, Miami, San Francisco, Washington, New York City and the island of Maui in Hawaii.

Effective Through August

Dates vary in Europe, but most of the properties are offering the reduced rates until the end of August. Taxes and service charges are included in the rates. Thirteen of the 27 hotels also include breakfast, which varies from full to continental. There is a two-night minimum at 20 of the hotels, none at the other seven.

European cities with hotels in the program include Amsterdam, Athens, Berlin, Budapest, Geneva, Helsinki, Paris, Rome and London. Those who stay a three-night minimum at the May Fair Inter-Continental in London also get complimentary theater tickets and a gift package.

Ten Asia/Pacific hotels--in Bangkok, Bombay, New Delhi, Colombo (Sri Lanka), Jakarta, Sydney, Davao (Philippines), Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo--are participating through Aug. 31. The Manila property is running the discount until Aug. 15. Service charges and taxes are not included, and there is a two-night minimum-stay.

At 11 Latin American hotels the special rates are available until July 31 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Bogota, Maracaibo, Cancun, Caracas, Monterrey and Rio de Janeiro are among the cities involved. Service charges and taxes are not included.

Advance booking restrictions apply, especially in Europe, where reservations may be required 7 to 14 days in advance.

Guests at all properties get a complimentary certificate providing a free upgrade to a suite or deluxe room if they extend their stay over a weekend. If you’ve already booked a weekend stay, this upgrade applies to future visits.
