The Czech Point

I have just returned from a trip by rental car through central Europe, crossing from West Germany into Czechoslovakia at Rozvadov. This is the main entry route from Nuremberg to Prague. Although I had obtained my visa before leaving the United States, I nevertheless had to wait in the enormous traffic backup created by the visa-issuing process.

The border crossing took five hours. I strongly recommend anyone driving into Czechoslovakia to avoid Rozvadov. At other entry points that do not issue visas, the whole procedure requires from 15 to 30 minutes.

Also, my rental car required super unleaded fuel. While this is available in Czechoslovakia, it is found only at specified locations in certain cities. Cedok hotels and offices should be able to provide a listing of these locations.
