Pope Names Berlin Bishop

VATICAN CITY —
Pope John Paul II has named Msgr. Georg Sterzinsky, 54, as bishop of Berlin, the Vatican announced. The opening was created in December after the Pope appointed Berlin Cardinal Joachim Meisner to head the archdiocese of Cologne, one of the most influential church posts in Europe.
