American Medical International Inc.: The Beverly Hills-based health-care firm said third-quarter net income slipped to $21 million from $33.7 million a year ago. Revenue dipped to $720.1 million from $812.1 million. The latest results were affected by the sale of 36 acute-care hospitals to an employee stock ownership plan on Sept. 30, 1988. Earnings also reflect a pretax loss of $2.9 million from an information systems subsidiary in which AMI acquired a controlling interest in March, 1989.
