Court Ruling on Civil Rights

Share

Many analyses, explanations, opinions, etc. are now and will continue for some time to be made by scholars, legal experts, politicians and prognosticators of the recent series of Supreme Court decisions relative to matters affecting the civil rights of minorities and women.

Nothing can possibly be as devastating as the thought of returning to the times and conditions many of us remember experiencing upon our return from World War II and the Korean War, after serving with distinction in the military service of our country. We faced denial of the opportunity to get and keep a decent job or buy a home of our choice and live in it in peace; or something as simple and basic as purchasing a meal in a location that happened to be convenient.

As innocent as it may sound and remote as it may seem, the recent decisions by the Supreme Court lay the basic, unmistakable foundation to allow the hands of time to be turned back to the period of racial unrest that will negate the valiant efforts made by a great number of people of good will whose fervent hope has been to see this great nation rise to the level of its potential.
