Stripers Hitting at Fast Pace

Striped bass fishing at Willow Beach is some of the best in years, according to Leroy Opfer, general manager of the Willow Beach Resort and Marina. Big stripers--some in excess of 27 pounds--have been biting hard and often, he said.

“The average guy can go out there and catch something between 15 to 18 pounds with extreme regularity,” Opfer said. “I mean every time. It’s wonderful. It’s never been anywhere close to this good.”
