WORLD : Thai River Yields Mutilated U.S. Man
BANGKOK, Thailand — Assailants in northern Thailand killed an American visitor, removed his heart, lungs and liver, cut his stomach and the crown of his head into cross shapes and dumped his body in a river, police said today.
Police Lt. Chaiyanan Trusanan identified the man as James Vincent Albano, 63, of New Jersey. His passport and papers were found Thursday night in a blood-spattered car near the Khet River. Police found his body this morning.
Chaiyanan said Albano had visited Thailand many times and last entered the country two days ago. A motive for the killing had not been found, he said.
