Countywide : $1.2 Million Approved for Bicycle Trails
More than $1.2 million in state sales-tax money has been approved for bicycle paths by the Orange County Transportation Commission.
The commission approved the budget for bike trails last week and will distribute the funds to all 28 cities in Orange County.
More than $594,000 of the $1.2-million bike-trail fund will go for regional projects. Funds for some of the projects include:
* $220,000 for the Aliso Creek bicycle trail south of Moulton Parkway, toward the ocean.
* $83,000 for the Coyote Creek trail in north La Palma.
* $60,000 for the Sand Canyon path in Irvine.
* $26,000 for bike lanes on three streets in San Clemente.
* $6,000 for master-plan work on the Santa Ana River bicycle trail.
Under state law, the funds are distributed to the cities according to population.
