Sun and Summer Rates at Some Arizona Hotels

Phoenix and Scottsdale are heating up with discounts at major hotels and hotel chains.

At the Wigwam Resort near Phoenix, prices are about two-thirds off high-season rates. Cost is $60 to $75 per room, single or double occupancy, until Sept. 30. Children under 12 years stay free when accompanied by parents.

Rates for the Ritz-Carlton in Phoenix are $59 on weekends and $79 midweek, single or double occupancy, through Sept. 14. These rates are up to 70% off high-season/winter tabs.

The Hyatt Regency Scottsdale’s Summer Splash deal is $99 per couple a night until Sept. 15. This includes a room with a balcony or terrace, a continental breakfast and tax. Also included is unlimited tennis court time and free use of the hotel’s fitness center.

At the Paradise Valley Resort in Scottsdale, the Summer Play package costs $118 per couple ($103 for one person) for two nights until Sept. 14. Extra perks include a continental breakfast and use of tennis courts.

Rates per night until Sept. 15 at the Red Lion’s La Posada in Scottsdale are $55 for single or double occupancy. There is also a $75 per-couple rate that includes a full breakfast and complimentary tennis.

Travelodge is offering discounts that are about 20% off regular rates at more than 450 hotels until Sept. 30. Up to four members of a family can stay in a room at the same rate.

Travelodge divides the United States into 10 regions. From $30-$45, Oregon and Washington; $25-$40, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Las Vegas, Nev., and $39-$59, San Diego and Imperial counties, California, and Ensenada, Mexico.

Northern California and the rest of Nevada rates are $35-$55. Also $35-$55 through the New England region, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
