A Uruguayan supertanker that spilled more than 300,000 gallons of oil into the Delaware River last month left for repairs in the West Indies. The cleanup of the June 24 spill is about 80% complete, “but we’ll be at it for several more weeks,” said Coast Guard spokesman Jim Weakley. The 749-foot-long tanker Presidente Rivera left the oil refinery city of Marcus Hook, Pa., and steamed down the Delaware Bay and into the Atlantic Ocean, Weakley said. A Coast Guard tug, patrol boat and helicopter escorted the ship.
