North’s Sentence in Iran-Contra Fiasco
Judge Gesell’s sentencing of North was fair. I also feel the capricious Congress deserves a scolding for its complicity in the whole affair. At first, they supported President Reagan’s agenda to help the Contras. Then they decided not to. It was as if they finally got tired of falling in line behind the President and decided it was time to start playing party politics. After all, ’88 was approaching.
Congress let slip its integrity. As a result, though his motives were pure, North let slip his.
