Greek Tanker Captain Faces Two Felony Charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. —
The captain of a Greek tanker who already faced federal pollution charges after the ship ran aground off Newport, spilling thousands of gallons of oil, on Friday was indicted on two state felony counts.
Iakovos Georgudis, 43, of Athens was charged with failure to have a harbor pilot on board the World Prodigy during the June 23 spill and with polluting coastal waters, Atty. Gen. James E. O’Neil said.
