Philadelphia Exhange in Merger Discussions: The Philadelphia Stock Exchange has held serious merger discussions with three other exchanges but is far from any agreement, exchange President Nicholas Giordano said. The exchange said in a statement that it had been approached in the past several months by the American Stock Exchange and two other major U.S. exchanges, which it declined to identify. “We are talking substantively about possible issues or areas where we may be able to find common ground,” Giordano said.
