NATION : Senate Kills Limits on PLO Contacts

From Times wire services

The Senate today killed proposed legislation that would restrict U.S. contacts with the Palestine Liberation Organization after President Bush said it could destroy U.S. peace efforts in the Middle East.

The measure, defeated by a vote of 75 to 23, would have banned U.S. negotiations with any PLO official who had prior knowledge of or participated in a terrorist attack that resulted in the death of any American.
