Newport Beach Doubles Team Wins on Hardcourt

The doubles team of Bob Duesler and Jim Nelson of Newport Beach defeated Len Saputo and Bob Olson of Walnut Creek, 6-2, 7-6, in a fourth-round match Friday at the United States Tennis Assn. National Men’s 45 Hardcourt Championships at the Lindborg Racquet Club in Huntington Beach.

Duesler did not fair as well in the singles, where top-seeded Keith Dietraam of Sugarland, Tex., defeated him, 7-5, 6-1.

In another doubles match, Dick Johnson of St. Louis and Jody Rush of Washington, D.C., defeated Lenny Lindborg of Laguna Niguel and Larry Dodge of San Francisco, 6-3, 6-4.
