U. S. Ban on Purchase of Voi-Shan Parts Continues

Share

Fairchild Industries announced that the federal government had left in effect a suspension imposed on a Chatsworth factory that manufactures spare aircraft parts, but lifted a similar ban on a parts plant in Redondo Beach.

The suspension on new, direct government purchases of parts from the plants, operated by Fairchild’s Voi-Shan division, was imposed in April when the Defense Logistics Agency said it had evidence that employees had falsified reports of required tests for aircraft nuts, bolts and rivets. The agency said the Chatsworth plant is now the focus of its investigation.

The ban did not prevent the Voi-Shan plants from selling parts to other companies, even for use in military planes. In the last fiscal year, the Chatsworth plant sold about $2.5 million in parts directly to the federal government, according to Deborah Tucker, Fairchild’s director of corporate communications.
