Baxter International Inc.: The Deerfield, Ill.-based manufacturer and marketer of health-care products, systems and services reported second-quarter profit of $104 million, up 14% from a year ago. Sales totaled $1.9 billion, a 10% increase. The results reflect strong domestic sales as a result of prior investments in hospital and alternate-site businesses.
