Girl Set Afire by Her Father Delivers Infant

AKRON, Ohio — A 17-year-old girl gave birth to a healthy infant Tuesday, hours after her father set her on fire in a quarrel. The new mother was in critical condition with burns over 70% of her body.
Kimberly Richmond, who was 8 1/2 months pregnant, gave birth at Children’s Medical Hospital to a 4-pound girl. Police arrested her father, Joseph Richmond, 41, and charged him with felonious assault in the incident Monday.
