A Miami-area man accused of operating the largest clandestine steroid laboratory in the country was sentenced to 22 months in federal prison. U.S. District Judge William Hoeveler also put Justin Rogers Routt, 29, on probation for three years and fined him $2,000.
Routt pleaded guilty shortly after his April arrest to conspiracy, mail fraud and adulteration and misbranding of prescription drugs. The Food and Drug Administration charged that Routt produced both steroids and inert substances that were sold as steroids.
Federal agents who raided Routt’s lab and warehouses found about $2 million worth of bulk and finished steroid products and labels for shipping nationally.
