Software Toolworks Profit, Revenue Triple in Quarter

Software Toolworks said its fiscal first-quarter profit more than tripled from a year earlier, to $849,000 from $231,000.

The Chatsworth producer of software for personal computers said the improved earnings came on a surge in revenue, to $4.17 million in the quarter that ended June 30 from $1.32 million a year ago.

Software Toolworks attributed the gains to its acquisition of DS Technologies, another software publisher, and to the release of three new software products during the quarter.
